Concertina book making at a Farm

I had a great day last Friday with a lovely group of women delivering a concertina book making workshop at a farm in Corsham. It was a cold misty November morning, but we were cosy working away in a perfect out house with a wood burner. Thank you to Susie (who organised the day at her farm) for being a great host and providing us with refreshments and a delicious lunch.

Using sketchbooks for research workshop

Secondary School book making and research workshop

I really enjoyed working with a group of secondary school students recently (years 7 – 11). The session was a great success, they all produced their own unique books and enjoyed using them for their research project.

They started the day by discussing how sketchbooks can be used for recording research and they investigated examples of different books and techniques I had taken in. They then set about making their own books before going out and about to collect information for possible enquiry/research projects, observing the environment around them, really looking and investigating things which often go unnoticed.

One of the participants gave the following feedback: “It is very interesting and really sets off a firework in your mind enabling you to think in a completely different way, by writing an idea down you can then reflect on it and improve.(The workshop is) well worth it, really gets you thinking!”

China project

I am really looking forward to this term, I am working on some amazing projects. These include working on creative curriculum development with a primary school in Castle Bromwich, working on ‘China’ as the topic. We have got some exciting ideas for this project, so watch this space. I will also be working on a variety of projects in a high school in Rugby, including, designing and producing a school learning journal, working across the English and Art departments producing story books and working with Religious Studies to produce prayer books and possibly a prayer garden…..can’t wait!!!

I will post pictures as the projects unfold.
